Today we will be making tie-dyed leggings!
(Well, marble-dyed. Big diff)
Here's what you'll need:
White, nylon tights
I got mine from Target for eight dollars
String
Food coloring
Cleaning vinegar
Okey dokey! Let's get started!
Pour 1/4 a cup of vinegar into a pot.
I remember in fourth grade when a girl
in my science unit said she liked to drink vinegar.
Drink vinegar.
It grossed me out so much that I can't stand the smell of vinegar
and she comes to mind every time.
(I wonder if she still drinks that stuff?)
Take your tights and stretch them out.
Fold them in half to it looks like one leg
Now fold them so you have one... half leg?
Take your string and tie a tights loop at the top.
Now tie all the way down
It looked like a snake, so I named him Jeffery.
Now go tie back up Jeffery to the beginning,
so you can tie the end of your string to the start
Big ol' buddle o' ties
Fill a pot about 3/4 full of water
and add your vinegar (gag)
I decided I was going for green tights
Squirt about one or two drops of dye in.
No more than that, though
Heat it, but don't boil it
Put your tights into the water
(I suggest tying a string to the end to pull it out)
It kept floating, so I had to push it down
(after a while it sunk)
After checking the color, I thought I'd add some blue
Take the tights out of the pot
Rinse them with cool water
And set them our to dry
They ended up only dying one side,
so I went back with another color for the other side
I decided to add blue and a tiny bit of purple,
and this is the final result:
I am now known in class as
'the girl with those cool tights'
lol
Hope you love them like I do!
xoxoxo,
Audrey
